My family and I
performing at the
Festival of the Arts
in Caracas,
Venezuela, 1987
My family and I
played traditional
Venezuelan music for
16 years as "Los
Hijos de la Casa
Grande".
My mother Thaydee
was the singer, my
father Julio Manuel
was the manager, and
my brothers played
the guitar-bass
(Julio), cuatro (Paco),
maracas and drums
(Freddy), and the
little Gabrielle was
singer, played
maracas, and danced.
My father Julio Manuel Barreiro "Farandulo" is a well-known sculptor and writer. His last work is an autobiography in 3 volumes entitled "El Libro del Emigrante". His e-mail is farandulo_escritor@yahoo.com.
Finally, my
mother Thaydée runs
"La Casa Grande" and
is a collaborator
and assistant on my
father's books.
I graduated in
International
Studies at the
Central University
of Venezuela. I
worked in the
Consulate of Mexico
in Philadelphia for
3 years, until I
moved to San Diego.
Julio Manuel runs an
advertisement
company in
Venezuela, named "JBS
Publicidad".
Paco and Freddy work
also for JBS
Publicidad, and have
the cattle farm "Fema",
named after our
grandmother.
Gabrielle is
currently studying
Graphic Design at
the Art Institute of
California.
